The 30-Day Buy Black Challenge: November 1–30, 2026.
Share
Buying Black shouldn’t be a once-a-year gesture. It can become a habit—like reaching for your usual toothpaste or favorite coffee. That’s why I created the 30-Day Buy Black Challenge: a month of prompts to help you discover, support, and share Black-owned brands and businesses.
The challenge starts Sunday, November 1, 2026, and finishes Monday, November 30—Cyber Monday. It’s free, and you can join on the KUUBOB challenge page.
What is the challenge?
Each day has a prompt to help you find a way to support a Black-owned brand or business. Some prompts invite you to shop; others ask you to share a brand, support a service, or reflect on what you’ve discovered. You don’t have to make a purchase every day.
For example, Day 2 is jewelry or accessories. Day 11 is a book by a Black author or from a Black-owned bookstore. Day 16 is oral care. By the end of the month, you’ll have new brands to explore and ideas for making Buy Black part of your routine.
You don’t have to spend a lot—or spend at all—to participate. The point is to make intentional support a lasting habit, not to spend beyond your means.
How it works
-
Sign up. Join with your email and get the printable 30-day checklist.
-
Follow the daily prompt. Buy from, recommend, or share a Black-owned brand or business when it fits the prompt.
-
Track your journey. Note the brands you discover and what you spend. If you don’t make a purchase, there’s nothing to add.
-
Share if you’d like. Post with #KUUBOB30DayBuyBlackChallenge and tag @KUUBOBMarketplace so we can cheer you on.
-
Finish strong. On Day 29, total your spending if you’ve made purchases. On Day 30, make a pledge to support a Black-owned business regularly.
Miss a day? Pick it up when you can. You can participate at your own pace.
What the month looks like
Week 1: Start With the Everyday — November 1–7
We begin with an introduction and everyday categories: jewelry and accessories, hair or skin care, coffee or tea, snacks and pantry items, and household products. The week ends with a recap to share what you’ve discovered.
Week 2: Home and Self-Care — November 8–14
Explore bedding, candles and home fragrance, self-care, books, kitchenware, and wellness. Day 10 is a brand spotlight, and Day 14 is a weekly recap.
Week 3: Style and Family — November 15–21
This week includes apparel, oral care, products for kids and families, and pet products. On Day 20, try my favorite prompt: Swap One. Day 21 is a recap and midpoint check-in.
Week 4: Gift and Go — November 22–27
Find a gift for someone you love, hire a Black-owned service, order from a Black-owned restaurant, explore office or tech products, and find a gift under $25. The week ends with Black Friday.
The Finale: Finish Strong — November 28–30
Support a local business on Small Business Saturday, share your total on Day 29 if you wish, and finish on Cyber Monday by making your pledge.
If you choose to share a receipt, remember to cover personal or payment information.
Swap One: where a challenge becomes a habit
Swap One is about choosing a Black-owned alternative for something you already buy regularly. It could be coffee, body lotion, candles, or snacks. When you’re ready to buy that item again, try making the swap.
There’s no need to buy extra or replace something that’s working for you right away. The idea is to make a thoughtful choice when the time comes.
Try sharing it like this: “I used to buy ___. Now I buy ___ from [brand].”
The big days
Mark these dates on your calendar:
-
Friday, November 27 — Black Friday: Look for Black-owned brands when you shop.
-
Saturday, November 28 — Small Business Saturday: Support a local Black-owned business.
-
Monday, November 30 — Cyber Monday: Finish the challenge and make your pledge.
Why it matters
Every time we choose where to spend, we help shape which businesses get our support. Shopping, recommending a brand, hiring a service, or sharing a discovery can all help more people find Black-owned businesses.
You don’t need to be perfect, and you don’t need to buy something every day. If you miss a prompt, pick up with the next one. Take part in the way that works for you.
